Just looking back, I am quite surprised on how things could be. I'm turning 1 year now. 1 year staying in Singapore and I had to go look back on old posts especially after hearing from Barney (an old office mate of mine) that my post on Singapore was really hopeful.

Sadly, I got blindsided on what I should have posted on first and open research other possible points! *bonks myself* Of course it took me quite sometime after a couple of lollies and an illustration to work on.

The biggest business is food for me. Everyone needs food, wants food, adore food. It is especially wanted more if the food is forbidden, dirty, delicious, and cheap.

maDot (yes, one of the imaginary friends my other friends would conjure of) messaged me this rather interesting post regarding one of the recommended dining spots around the University.

On July 31, some officials from the Manila City Hall tried to sweep away the street food vendors in Agno in response to the complaints of middle class diners in the neighboring building.

What was the complain?
Business competition.

Give me a break. Agno has been there before them! If there is such a competition they should find a way. Competition is always there. Sheesh.

Your Personality is Very Rare (INTP)
Your personality type is goofy, imaginative, relaxed, and brilliant.

Only about 4% of all people have your personality, including 2% of all women and 6% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving.

Got this from my batchmate in college, Bots.
These are one of those times that you see the big difference in staying in Singapore.

Being a web designer, web developer and/or project manager or just being a simple janitor, a laptop and a good connection is the best combo you can give me other than a baby back rib with a sweet taste of mushroom gravy sauce. Sprinkle in my super powers of insomnia and workaholic, it's practically an extra appendage of my so called life.

My recent visit to Manila was almost what my father would answer when asked about it. It was another trip deemed to be toxic. It was actually - my grandmother passing away and suddenly leaving in a middle of a stressful week at work. So there I was again at some corner somewhere with a laptop. *sigh* Talk about my previous trip even with John to Dumaguete, I still had my fingers tied to the keyboards.

So ... finally... I have watched The Dark Knight in one of the nicest movie houses in town called the Gold Class. For such a highly recommended (yes, as early as 2007 I've been hearing it from the Psychic Dude again and again), anticipated movie, why not spend a buck or two to fully relish the movie right? Yup, John just got the best seats in the house and I must say, it's damn worth it!

The Dark Knight is pretty much a continuation of its pioneer movie, Batman Begins. After Batman made its appearance in Gotham, he has helped lower the crime rates. Making criminals from the small to the large scale meet at day and hide by night, a new villain steps out and offers the most outrageous goal and cunning of all plans, Joker. As Joker challenges Batman's credibility to put Gotham in order and Bruce starting to feel the weight of Batman's shadow on him, Batman considers that there should be another face for justice. A face that appears on day, a face that follow the rules of the system, a face that is known to the public and doesn't hide behind a mask - District Attorney, Harvey Dent.

Ok this is a not so smooth rough draft post of mine. Yes, this is a warning. Sorry I'm in a rush in cleaning up my room.

Siquijor

Last February, we went back to Manila and had a mini trip to Dumaguete and Siquijor. Sorry, I tried a quick search. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any website appealing for Siquijor alone but the one mentioned is meaty enough.

I have to admit working from abroad and going back you suddenly start feeling everything IS cheap. Then again, I really know that stuff in Dumaguete is cheaper considering my all my life living in Manila.

So Dumaguete was not a problem going around with. Aside from the trips to relatives, it was easy enough to bring JohnP around. I had first hand referrals.

So how about Siquijor? Shockingly it was easy as well!

If you're a net geek *ehermsuchasme* and has fancied The Net by Sandra Bullock, this one makes it an absolute cheesecake out of it.
Untraceable is a suspense movie depicting how an FBI agent tracks down a 20 year old withdrawn geek. A website, KillWithMe.com, appears showing a series of murders broadcasted live over the internet. From kitty murder to my-friend-colleague-and-my-daughter's-favorite murder, FBI Cybercrimes agent, Jennifer Marsh tries to track the murderer down.

  • Videography: 90ish percent nice. Wasn't fond on how fast they let you glimpse on the text especially the SMS message of the daughter and the first few shots of the chatroom
  • Cinematography: Very nice as well. Though there were extra shots that really would make your head thing 4 steps forward that the murderer will appear in that same frame. Yes, I thought the murderer will get in the FBI office.
  • Music Score: Not as catchy as the 12 Monkeys. Yes, it is now playing in your head.
  • Script: Delicious.

Just came home after watching a movie with Jen.

Tonight's movie: The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep

Well we came in late so I frankly do not know how two American's ended up in the company of an old man and why it  became a bed time story.

The story was a better version of how modern day child encounters magic. Usually, what we would have in this kind of movie in our plate is kid discovers magic, magic gets misused or discovered, people go by greed but here, it has a little twist. Very subtle really. It is neatly placed along the year 1942 where the war with Germany occurred. Please do not ask me about world history. I dunno but it seems like it has copied Pan's Labyrinth's method. Can someone please verify?
Working in Singapore as a Filipino is rather an interesting thing. There's pretty much the discrimination, the being laughed at for not speaking the proper Singlish which our educational institutions deemed right on American Standards, and call center training sessions too I bet, the apple of the eyes of the "de colors" for a free ride, and the domestic help for the Chinese.

With much of the things to think of, aside from the office politics especially if you're in one, you are still to meddle with the Philippine Government despite the misconception that "hey, I am not on Philippine land, you can't touch me".
So, yes, rumor is true. I don't have a TV set to get updated on the AXN shows. But it really doesn't stop me from finding a way to get a sneak peek of the Amazing Race Asia Season 2.

I have to admit this is the first time I have really watched and tried to watch every possible episode I can.

So now we have a good candidate for next week's show of Tyra, Maury, and Dr. Phil (please note I have not included Oprah since I don't think they deserve her presence).

Henry and Trinidad ReedI know it may be harsh but seriously in my honest opinion Henry and Trinidad should be kept outside the camera frame rather than inside.

I know it's true that not all relationships or marriages are of sweet coating and fancy little things of love but after watching the two really made me want to go under the sheets and comforter and deny my Filipino line.

Trying to be unbiased here but here's the basic 411 of the two:

Henry is retired from working for his country, the United states of A. Trinidad, or Terri as she goes by, is well I dunno maybe a house wife ??? I really dunno. They admit that they are a dysfunctional couple. Yeah, that's one step of getting to improve you and your relationship, but come on Terri screaming at the guy for asking directions and being cool headed on the race and not giving up?

You know, what's even more heartbreaking is that to see the guy really broke down in front of the teams while waiting at the airport and the small segments where the teams get to talk on their experience of the leg of the race.
